Cheeky-Teeth:
A night mixing local talent with some choice cuts from one of our resident DJ's. On July 7th The Pavilion middle bar will play host to Pistol Bullet, Suitcase Suzy, and at least one more act to be announced (a wee surprise for all who gather). Following the acoustic sets there will be music from one of our fantastic disc spinners (DJ's) and then the main event. The Delfinos followed by Headliners Echo Raptors.
Pistol Bullet:
Pistol Bullet Is a Belfast based singer songwriter with a bit of a twist. Heavily influenced by the likes of Wilco, Ramones, Townes Van Zandt and John Prine to name but a few Pistols lyrics and sound are hard to define. At a push I'd go with Punk/Folk but probably best to let people make up their own minds on such matters as there is little room to move in a pigeon hole.
Suitcase Suzy:
After a ten year musical absence due to a case of the dark and twisties, Suzy returned to the scene in a 60’s inspired covers outfit aptly named KOKO&THE BOOMTOWN CATS, Suzy has worked on an eclectic repertoire including recording and collaborating with local artists and dance music promoters. Suzy can usually be found wielding a washboard as part of KATIE&THE CARNIVAL and has recently performed with the excellent N.I. Soul Troop. Suitcase Suzy is currently concentrating on embarking on a self-penned musical journey, why not join the ride?
Cheeky-Teeth are delighted to announce -
The Delfinos:
local rootsy blues rock band The Delfinos will be firing out some of the most heartfelt emotional bullets of rock you are likely to hear this side of the City. Lead singer and front-man Barry Acheson has a fascinating ability to take an acoustic guitar, put it through an amp or two with the odd pedal thrown in for good measure producing a sound that could well be out of this world. With the driving drumbeat of Derek Lockheart winding itself around the very spine of the band and Tim Bryans pumping out perfect bubbly bass lines you're in for a treat any time you make it to a Delfinos Gig. The chemistry between all three members of the band is second to none which translates effortlessly through every wire, microphone and amp in the house. Quite simply, the Delfinos are an excellent band, definitely one to watch out for.
The headline band,
Echo Raptors:
Are a four piece Rock 'n' Roll band from Belfast. Formed in late 2009, by four lovers of the 60's and 90's
musical greats; They have been compared to the likes of the Stone Roses, Jet, The Rolling Stones and early Oasis. Their first EP
Wasteland received regular airplay on BBC's ATL radio show and 2 of the tracks (Sinking in the Shadows and Talking Machine) reached number
1 in the NI chart. The title track wasteland has also been used in an online commercial for Kopparberg Cider.
Past Echo Raptors gigs have included a support slot with Ocean Colour Scene's Steve Craddock, a headline slot
at the Liverpool Sound City festival and a Headline slot at the Cavern Club. The band has recently released the first two singles from their first album - 'The Plastic People'. The self-titled track and 'Bite The Wire' have been met with rave reviews across the web and by their local fan base. With another wave of even better songs to come for the same project, 2012 is hotting up to be a great year for Echo Raptors."
All bluster and kudos aside, there are several things you can expect at any Echo Raptors Gig. You will get Four lovely guys at the top of their game cranking out cracker tunes that will have the most refined and reserved of punters either tapping their feet, nodding their head or subconsciously finger drumming on the table (perhaps even all at the same time). If you like live music and appreciate a genuine bunch of lads buzzing on stage then check out these guys. Echo Raptors are not only musically sound and alive but their lyrics are top notch too. But you can find that out for yourself, when you turn up and enjoy.
